A hometown favorite festival prepares to kick off with events for the whole family.

At Accu-Label, we think it’s important to get involved with our community. No matter how BIG or small a contribution, it still positively affects the community around you. It’s encouraging partnering with such organizations, like the Three Rivers Festival, that also see that it is important to contribute positively and consistently on a local level.

For many of us Fort Wayne natives, we look forward to the summer festivals that always allow for something new and interesting to happen in the downtown area. July 10, 2015 marks the beginning of the Three Rivers Festival, a week long celebration that has provided summer fun since 1969!

Accu-Label has chosen to sponsor the Three Rivers Festival because we believe they provide quality events, concerts, and contests to help draw solidarity among our community as well as creating a positive safe environment for people to come together and enjoy. There are many ways to meet new people and participate in festival festivities. With over 80 events to chose from, you are bound to create lasting friendships and memories from your experience.

This years activities include events in the arts, concerts, contests, and great festival food for all ages. Whether you are in the mood to go to one of their many concerts or maybe even enter the Art in the Park—a two day juried fine art show in the heart of the Fort Wayne arts scene in Freimann Square—there truly is something for everyone! For a complete list check out the Main Event Descriptions on the official Three Rivers Festival website.

The 2015 Concert Series might have the best variety yet and should be noted. If ‘the classics’ are your thing, you should check out Lover Boy, KC and the Sunshine Band as well as Pink Droyd. If you fancy more of an alternative-rock style you might also consider going to the Summerland Tour 2015 which includes American Hi-Fi, Toadies, Fuel and Everclear. There is even a christian music night sponsored by Star 88.3 in addition to a night dedicated to an eclectic variety of local and up-and-coming artists.

Unfortunately, some of the activities and events from years past had to be canceled due to our unusually high water with the  St. Mary’s, St. Joseph and Maumee rivers. The Festival Board of Directors chose to cancel the Three Rivers Raft Race as well as the Steel Dynamic’s Free River Excursions. Even though these much loved events aren’t making an appearance this year, safety of all of those involved must come first. “The increased speed and height of the rivers, along with an excess of debris on the shorelines and in the rivers, have left the rivers unsafe to host these events,” explained Jack Hammer, Executive Director of the Three Rivers Festival, “Although we look forward to these events each year, we will always err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of our community and volunteers.” For more details and updates check out the festival’s website.

This hometown favorite festival will kick off Friday with Junk Food Alley opening at 11AM then for the evening concert opener Lover Boy. On Saturday, Three Rivers Parade will start at 10am. Make sure to get there early if you want the perfect view, seats fill up quickly. Never fear! If you aren’t able to physically attend, you can watch all the excitement from home on ABC 21Alive.
